Similar in operation, solar lighting and remote location control systems are reliable and efficient renewable energy products.   They are the most sustainable, carbon-neutral means to provide exterior illumination to streets, parking lots, security lighting, outdoor advertising or control remote equipment.   These systems consist of solar panels, batteries and a sophisticated solar controller.   The solar controller switches the light or equipment on and off, stops the flow of solar generated electricity when the batteries are fully charged, and resumes charging when more power is needed.   The combination of the solar panel, batteries, and the solar controller is known as the "solar power pack," which is the key to a solar lighting or remote location control system.

 

When installing a solar lighting system, we recommend upgrading to LED light bulbs.  LED is the common abbreviation for light emitting diode.   Each individual LED consists of a semiconductor diode that emits light when voltage is applied to it.   LED light fixtures can provide over 100,000 hours of service in solar applications.   This reduces maintenance costs.   LED lighting produces a better quality of light, reducing shadows and creating a safer illuminated area.   LED lights are environmentally friendly because they don't contain mercury like florescent bulbs.
